10 Signs It’s Time to Find a New Job

Many people feel lukewarm about their jobs at some point during their careers. It's the red flags you have to watch out for -- major signs that it's time to leave your job. Once you see a red flag, it can be time to make a serious assessment of where you are in your career and where you want to be. Here 10 signs that it's time to start looking for another job.
1) You're passed over for a promotion. When this happens, find out why, says Joan Runnheim Olson of Pathways Career Success Strategies in Hudson, Wis. You may not have had the right certification or training. But if you don't get a straight answer, it might be something more.
2) You don't get along with your boss. "If you don't like your boss, there's a good chance your boss doesn't like you," Olson says. And when that happens, your chances for success are limited.
3) You're depressed about work when you aren't there. "When you spend Sunday dreading Monday, listen to your gut," Olson advises. If it's just a project getting you down, it may be temporary. But if you're dreading work every time you're off, it may be the sign of a larger problem.
4) Your company is acquired. This isn't always necessarily a bad thing, so do some research on the acquiring company. "If they typically clean house, you might want to start looking," Olson says.
5) The company has had multiple rounds of layoffs. If there are several rounds of layoffs and you're still standing, that can still be a sign to look anyway. Rounds of layoffs mean the company hasn't solved whatever problem it thought layoffs would fix -- and that you might be stuck with an unrealistic workload.
6) People have stopped talking to you. If you aren't included in management meetings or people are making decisions without your input, it's possible that you are being shut out on purpose. You will need to decide whether it's better to ask what's going on, or simply start looking.
7) You're not feeling challenged. "People can hit a plateau, sometimes about five years in," says Nancy Branton of People Potential Group Inc. in Woodbury, Minn. Ask for new projects and training, if possible -- or, if you've hit the ceiling, look for something new.
8) Your boss or co-workers undermine your work. You may find that projects you've approved or decisions you made are being overturned by others, behind your back or openly. Second-guessing and making changes without your input are disrespectful and mean your work isn't valued. Time to start looking!
9) Your stress has become unmanageable. If you have a heavy workload and an outside stress such as caregiving for a family member, you might find that leaving the job is your best choice. "Some people might feel stuck because the pay is good," Branton says, but the challenge may be untenable.
10) You have nightmares about your job. Most people have dreams about work once in awhile. If you're having regular bad dreams about the office, your brain might be trying to tell you something.
It can be hard to discern between short-term dissatisfaction and a deep-seated unhappiness with your job, but when you see the signs, you'll know when it's time to leave.

orders Thai security forces to leave

The UN's top court has ruled that most of the disputed land around a flashpoint ancient temple on the Thai border belongs to Cambodia and that Thai security forces should leave.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) interpreted a 1962 ruling saying that "Cambodia had sovereignty over the whole territory of the promontory of Preah Vihear," Judge Peter Tomka said on Monday. .
"In consequence Thailand was under an obligation to withdraw from that territory Thai military or police forces or other guards or keepers who were stationed there." .
Cambodia welcomes UN ruling.
Cambodia has welcomed the ruling which appears to have reached a compromise on the amount of land to be ceded by Thailand. .
Prime Minister Hun Sen addressed his nation on television, reiterating a pledge to work with Thailand to keep the border peace and "not do anything that will lead to tension"..
But he added: "This is a significant step forward... towards a peaceful resolution." .
At The Hague, Cambodia's Foreign Minister Hor Namhong said "we cannot say the verdict from the court today satisfies our goal 100 per cent," .
"But we are happy... the verdict has rendered most of what we want." .
Thai PM agrees to talks.
Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has agreed to hold talks with Cambodia over the issue, adding she would protect her country's interests. .
"The government has asked the military... to take care of peace along the border," she said in a television address. .
The ruling has added further pressure on the prime minister's government, which is already grappling with mass street demonstrations against a controversial political amnesty bill. .
At least 28 people have been killed in outbreaks of violence since 2011 over the ownership of the patch of border land next to the 900-year-old Preah Vihear temple. .
Ahead of the ruling by The Hague-based ICJ, there were fears that the decision would revive nationalist tensions and spark renewed clashes. .
Tens of thousands of people were displaced in the 2011 fighting, leading Cambodia to ask the ICJ for an interpretation of an original 1962 ruling. .
Thailand does not dispute Cambodia's ownership of the temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, but both sides laid claim to the adjacent 4.6-square-kilometre piece of land. .
Leaders of the two countries called for calm ahead the ruling by 17 international judges. .
The court decision is binding and cannot be appealed. .
The roots of the dispute lie in maps drawn up in 1907 during French colonial rule. .
Cambodians evacuate ahead disputed hotspot.
Nervous Cambodian residents dug bunkers or evacuated homes on Monday as the UN awarded land surrounding an ancient temple to their country, an issue which has sparked deadly clashes with neighbouring Thailand. .
The mood on both sides of Preah Vihear temple was tense on Monday ahead of the ruling, with tourists still allowed to visit the ancient structure via Cambodian territory. But journalists were denied access. .
Earlier on Monday, Cambodian villagers said they were taking no chances and had prepared bunkers or evacuated their homes. .
"We have already prepared our bunkers in case Thai troops open fire," So Phany, a vendor near Preah Vihear temple, said. .
Other villagers along the border with Thailand left their homes altogether, fearing the worst, an AFP photographer at the scene said. .
Dozens of locals near the temple complex crowded around grainy television screens in coffee shops as the ICJ began the live broadcast of its deliberations. .
The Cambodian army has denied local media reports that it has sent military reinforcements to the area. .
"The situation along the border is normal," regional military commander General Srey Doek said. .
On the Thai side, some 40 primary schools were closed in one district on the border, according to provincial education official Somsak Chobthamdee. .
